How the Pico mascot works in the child space

Use the fixed mascot menu, understand Pico’s reactions, and move or hide him on the child’s screen.

Updated 8/24/2026 pico mascot, children, kid space, fun fact, joke

The Pico mascot sits in the corner of the child space. This mascot is not the same as Pico’s AI help for reading and writing. The mascot uses fixed menu choices and short reactions; it is not an open AI chat.

What the mascot does

Pico welcomes your child or student and reacts at specific moments. For example, he changes pose after an answer, gives encouragement after a completed activity, and celebrates when a practice path is finished.

Select the mascot to open this menu:

  • Hi Pico!
  • Fun fact!
  • Tell me a joke
  • About me
  • Have a nap, Pico

Your child or student chooses one of these options; they do not type an open question into the mascot menu.

Move, resize, or hide the mascot

Drag Pico to another position on the screen. On supported devices, use a corner to make him bigger or smaller.

Choose Have a nap, Pico to hide the mascot on that device. A small Wake Pico up button remains available so your child or student can bring him back.

There is no separate parent switch for this corner mascot. The parent setting under Access & AI controls Pico’s AI help for reading and writing, not the mascot. See How to turn Pico’s AI help on or off for a child for that separate feature.
